
Mrs. Catt, the librarian at Cartmell, conducted a random drawing to give away three signed copies of “The Big Eclipse Day”— a book recently published by her author/science teacher friend from Frisco, TX, Sherrie Klein (aka Sharky Science). The winners were Abigail Laib, Bradley Routon, and Liah Gutierrez (not pictured).

Carroll County's students are on the buses and heading home before today's total solar eclipse. Enjoy the event and remember to wear your eclipse glasses!

Carroll County Schools will host nationally renowned speaker Michael DeLeon on April 18. He will talk to younger children about safety among strangers and to the older students about the dangers of vaping. A parent academy will be held at 6 p.m. on April 18 to discuss youth vaping. Please join us!!

The Commonwealth Autism Care Color Outside the Lines 5K walk/run will be held next month.
Commonwealth Autism Care operates on Gillock Avenue, providing in-clinic therapy and performing autism diagnostic evaluations. The 5K walk/run will help purchase materials for children who receive their services.
There is no sign-up deadline for the 5K walk/run. However, anyone who registers between now and April 13 will receive their T-shirt on race day.

We want to remind all parents that on Monday, April 8th, we will be releasing school early at 12:45 PM due to the total solar eclipse happening later that day. This is the first day back to school after spring break.
There will be NO AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM this day. Please let us know how your child will get home.
If your child will be riding the bus that day, it is important to ensure that someone is present at the bus stop to pick up your child by 1:15 PM.
Pickups will begin at 12:45 and will be in the loop like usual.
If there are any changes to your child's usual transportation arrangements, please notify the office at Cartmell prior to 11:30 on April 8th by sending an email to cartbuspass@carroll.kyschools.us. If you already know, please feel free to send your email now.
If there is no change in your child's transportation for this day, you do not have to do anything.

The Strategic Plan Steering Committee yesterday worked on determining the core values for Carroll County Schools. Our community members added their thoughts during a Town Hall last night. Please continue to participate in this process and give your input!

An impactful and informative seminar on vaping will be held on April 18. Students at each school will participate and there is a parent academy as well. Watch our social media and websites for more information!


Members of the Carroll County High School FFA Chapter celebrated Ag Day by reading to students at Kathryn Winn Primary and Cartmell Elementary.
They read a book about bugs and set up butterfly grow kits with children at Kathryn Winn. The group also read a book about greenhouses and set up window sill greenhouses filled with items planted by Cartmell Elementary students. The books and kits were donated by the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation.
The FFA members include Kaitlyn Wilson, Matthew Biggin, Navaeh Crawford, Brayden Stewart, Houston Parker, Lacie Gross, Madi Groves, Skyler Robbins, Andrea Cotero, Keagan Hatton, Gage Stone, Johnny Scherder, Brooklyn Brewer, Macy Coghill, Macyn Walters, Luke Taylor, Jaslyn Walker, Zayn Satchwell, Jackson Kyle, Landon Warren, Patrick Parker, Rileigh Darnold, Kaden Dukes, Kaseton Tilley and Coy Willhoite.

Cartmell Elementary teacher Laura Pirtle’s innovative strategies teaching iReady math to her second graders earned her recognition recently.
Each month, curriculum associates conducts a drawing across the state to select which teachers to recognize. Principal Brandi Wells and Instructional Coach Michele Long surprised her with the certificate, candy and a card recently.
