HERE'S A BIRD'S-EYE-VIEW OF OUR PICKUP PROCEDURES! We use an app called iDismiss to check in car tag numbers in wave order, then line up students inside according to those waves. Be sure and communicate any transportation change to the office via email at cartbuspass@carroll.kyschools.us by 1:00pm each day. This helps ensure that students are in the right location for pickup or bus.

Cartmell Panther Families: Please remember that the first day of school is on Wednesday, August 14th. Parents/Legal Guardians are welcome to walk their child to his/her classroom on the first day of school. We want our students to have a positive start to their school year. After the first day of school, families are asked to drop their students off in the pick up/drop off line or send their students on the bus, and we will be sure to get your child safely to class. Lunch Visitors After the first day of school, parents/guardians are welcome to eat lunch with their child. 24 hour advance notice is requested to ensure we have adequate seating. Please call the office at 502-732-7085 if you would like to schedule a time to eat lunch with your child. Classroom Volunteers and Chaperones After the first day of school, parents/guardians may schedule times to volunteer in classrooms or to help support teachers. This should be scheduled with the classroom teacher. A background check is required for volunteers IF they will be working directly with students without staff supervision. A background check is NOT required for volunteers IF they will be under direct supervision of a staff member at all times while working with students OR if they will not be working with students (i.e., if they are just coming to help make copies, etc.) If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school.

Carroll County Schools has released its list of designated bus stops. According to Transportation Director Dianna Dunn, a few stops have been added this year after monitoring the routes during the last school year. Dunn asked parents to be patient with bus drivers during the first couple of weeks, as it might take a little longer to get children home. It will take time for children to get used to their bus locations and how the process works.

A change in Kentucky state law now mandates students who have 15 or more unexcused absences be reported to the Carroll County Attorney’s Office for truancy. This change is part of ongoing efforts to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance and to provide additional support to families to help prevent chronic absenteeism, according to the Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel. Mark Willhoite, the Carroll County Schools Director of Pupil Personnel, said excused absences are unavoidable and encouraged families to familiarize themselves with the absence policies. “Our primary goal remains to collaborate with families to support students’ educational journeys and to address any barriers to consistent school attendance,” the DPP organization said in a press release. Regular school attendance is crucial for academic success and families are urged to plan accordingly to ensure their children attend school consistently. Willhoite noted this information is being announced before school starts so there will be no confusion as the year progresses. “We are here to support you and your child in achieving educational success,” he said. Please contact Willhoite’s office at 732-7070 with questions.

The 2024-2025 school year is just around the corner in Carroll County and a confident energy is sweeping through the district, setting the stage for an inspiring start. “I’m excited. I think we’re going to have an awesome year,” Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes said to staff during a professional development session today. Now entering his third year as Panther, Jaynes noted a marked shift in the district’s atmosphere compared to when he first assumed the role. “Things are moving in the right direction and that is a tribute to the work you’re doing in the classrooms daily,” he said to the gathering of teachers and administrators. This year, Carroll County Schools is experiencing an uptick in enrollment, a decrease in staff turnover, and a pervasive positive mindset that has taken hold at all levels. Several staff members indicated they enjoyed hearing from instructional coaches and learning about the new technology improvements coming to the district. The crew also enjoyed a fun game of Friendly Feud between the schools. “I’m proud to be your superintendent and proud to work with each of you as we move our district to be a Top 10 district in the state,” Jaynes said.
