Starting May 14, 2025 our school will be administering the Measurable Results Assessment (MRA), a survey and reporting system designed to provide insights into the progress of our school. In order to provide a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, the MRA includes three different surveys; 1) one completed by all school staff, 2) one completed by students in grades 3 and above, and 3) one completed by the families of students in all grades.
We hope you will participate so we can use the feedback to make our school an even better place for students and families. If you have any questions about the surveys or wish to see a list of questions, please contact the school’s front office.
FAMILY SURVEY
WHAT: Online survey completed by one member of each household.
● Survey typically takes about 5 minutes to complete
● Questions relate to the experiences you and your child have at our school.
● Answers are anonymous--to encourage people to be honest and open, no names and other identifying information will be collected.
WHEN: The survey is now available for you to take through June 5, 2025.
HOW: The survey can be taken from any computer, smartphone, or tablet with internet access,

● Survey typically takes 15-20 minutes to complete
● Students privately answer questions about their attitudes and behaviors--and can skip questions and stop anytime they choose.
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE PAST DUE!
Parents, please help your child locate any overdue or missing library books to return to school. Missing book notices will be issued Monday.
The replacement cost for lost or damaged books will be noted on the slip, and should be paid by the last day of school.

If you have been at school all week, you are most likely finished with KSA testing for the year! Students who have been absent for testing may have additional makeup tests to complete in the week to come. Get some good rest this weekend, you have earned it for all of your hard work this week. HOUSE HULA DANCE TICKETS ON SALE MONDAY, MAY 19--THURS, MAY 22! Our House Hula Dance (a fundraiser for our House system) will be NEXT THURSDAY, MAY 22, 5-7PM in the Cartmell Gym!

*Ticket cost will be $10 for a Cartmell Students and ONE Adult Guest (students must be accompanied by an adult to attend, one adult per student).
*Additional Cartmell students from the same household can attend for $5 (total per family not to exceed $20). *CARTMELL students only
*Tickets will be on sale Mon-Thurs of next week in the LIBRARY (exact amount appreciated) A variety of concessions will be available for purchase, and priced at $1 each. This is a Hula dance with casual dress--Hawaiian/tropical shirts, shorts, summer style outfits and/or house colors encouraged! (swimwear or high heels are NOT appropriate)

Fourth graders, you have one more day of testing- tomorrow is the Science KSA! Be sure to toggle back and forth between any of the given pictures, graphs, and scenarios when answering the science questions. You can still use the X feature. Your scrap paper is also important as you select the best answer to each question.

Great job on today's Reading KSA! Tomorrow we take the KSA mathematics test. Encourage your child to use their scrap paper to work out problems using numbers, pictures, and other strategies we've learned all year to perform their best! They can still use the X tool to mark out answer choices, and should also use the online ruler and straight edge as tools to help them succeed.

Our first day of KSA testing is complete! Thank you for being on time at 7:50 AM! Tomorrow we take the KSA reading test. Encourage your child to read the whole passage, use the bookmark tool to mark questions they want to return to later, use the X tool to mark out answer choices, and use their scrap paper to take notes or annotate the text. Finally, be sure to restate, answer, prove!
TODAY is the big day! Cartmell KSA tip of the day! Did you know that eating a healthy, balanced breakfast is important for your child's ability to focus in school? Aim for a serving of fruit, protein, and whole grains each morning so your child can shine and do their best on the KSA test!

💡Why? Because our students deserve modern classrooms, expanded preschool access, and safe, updated spaces to learn and grow.

Cartmell KSA tip of the day!
Did you know that drinking water is critical to helping your child's brain function? Aim for 2-2.5 liters (about 10-11 large cups) of water each day. Needs may vary depending on your child's activity level.
Today is School Communicators Day! At Carroll County Schools, we’re fortunate to have an incredible communications team that goes above and beyond every day. Under the leadership of Jennifer Willhoite, Director of Public Relations, this team works tirelessly to highlight the amazing work happening across our district and to keep our community informed and connected.

Fourth grade science students at Cartmell Elementary discussed how maps can help them see Earth's patterns, specifically how maps can be used to track where volcanoes erupt. Students plotted volcano coordinates on maps and used that information to discuss their theories.
Second grade students at Cartmell Elementary are using flowers delivered to the school by the high school agriculture students for scientific discovery. Did you know children between the ages of 7-11 need approximately 9-12 hours of sleep per night? Be sure your child gets a good night's rest so he or she can perform his or her best in school each day, and especially during KSA testing!

Happy School Nurse Day!
Carroll County Schools Nutrition Services will be offering a 10-day boxed meal kit to children ages 1 - 18. These may be picked up on assigned dates starting Friday June 6. Each box will contain 10 complete breakfasts and 10 complete lunches, all at NO COST TO OUR FAMILIES. All contents of the boxes are shelf stable items to help with limited refrigerator and freezer space. Each box will contain a menu that will show what items should be included to make a specific meal for each day. These meals are procured through a vendor and are not prepared by the school district. However, District Food Service staff will be in charge of the distribution. Please sign up to ensure that we have enough boxes on hand to meet demand. Sign ups will run through July 14.
